Molly Burke

Her Story

They say a child’s world is colorful but Molly Burke’s world has started to darken when she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at the age of 4. It is a rare retinal disease. She was a courageous girl who was able to face the obstacles that her disease has brought her.

She was able to change other people's lives when she became an ambassador for The Foundation Fighting Blindness Canada at the age of five. She inspired not only hundreds but thousands of people who was fighting the same fight.

Through the years, her vision only got worse but her confidence and optimism strengthened. But her vision wasn't the only obstacle in her life. She got bullied and suffered from depression and anxiety. Good thing she was strong enough to face her challenges and strong enough to reach out to others.

Since she is a motivational speaker she has travelled a lot of places sharing her inspiring story with the youth, families, and corporate organizations

She has travelled to North America and the UK to speak at We Day. Every time she speaks at a We Day event she would share her story with more than 20,000 people. During We Day events she has shared the stage with very well known people like Demi Lovato, Macklemore, Martin Sheen and Magic Johnson. She has also worked with people like Martin Luther King III, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Malala Yousafzai and the Kielburger brothers.

Molly has inspired so many people that she has received awards like the Oakville YMCA peace award for outstanding contributions towards developing understanding in the community. Also, she has run with the Paralympic torch for the winter games and won the title of Miss Teen Canada International 2010 and was a correspondent on the Orange Carpet for the 2013 TeenNick Halo Awards in Los Angeles.

Her goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire people to find happiness, peace, and to achieve their goals even when it seems hopeless.
