Dear Friends,

Upon NFP's inception it has provided scholarships to deserving

students in nursing programs across Pennsylvania. These students

have included those preparing to become registered nurses

as well as nurses returning to school to advance their education.

I invite you to join our endeavors so that nurses and our future nurses

are well prepared to practice, become leaders, and educators in the

profession, promote health, and transform healthcare for the benefit of all.

We are proud to have assisted over 240 students enrolled in nursing programs with their education. These nurses have gone on to be leaders in the profession, make a difference in

the lives of their patients, inspire students, and lead organizations. This past year, we continued this legacy by awarding $20,000 in scholarships to 17 deserving individuals.

We continue to strive for excellence in philanthrophy we will be working on the renewal

of our Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofits Organizations (PANO) Standards of Excellence designation. The trustees are committed to ensuring that the NFP adheres to best practices

for charitable organizations. This past year, a memorial endowment honoring the memory of JoAnne Goss, was created that ensures 4 annual nursing scholarships. We also witnessed the continuance of NFP's commitment to diversity by specifically honoring a black nursing student with the first distribution of The Tubman Scholar scholarship.

Because of the challenges presented by the COVID pandemic, the trustees spent the past year being very creative in their efforts to support the achievement of our vision of ensuring nurses for tomorrow. We had a very successful fundraising effort with our Christmas in July Volvo raffle. We also partnered with PSNA to make a sterling silver stethoscope necklace available for (ongoing) sale. This is a perfect gift for the nurse in your life, for graduation, Mother's Day, and other special occasions throughout the year. We continue to make estate planning and opportunities for scholarship support available. Please contact Paula Lasecki, Director of Development at [email protected] for details.

We hosted a successful in-person signature Black & Gold gala in November. The theme, Masquerade Ball, extended NFP an enchanting opportunity to thank its friends, donors and supporters in person. Please visit us at www.the.nfp.org to learn more about our currrent activities. We are grateful to the larger nursing community and our friends for your ongoing commitment to the NFP and our goals for Pennsylvania nurses.

Sincerely,

Margarete L. Zalon, PhD, RN, ACNS-BS, FAAN
