The lyrics, “One day the world stopped without warning” starts off the song, just how the year also started.  Right after, comes the lyrics, “Spring did not know to wait” which talks about how COVID-19 spread across the entire world during the spring. In the course of that time, stores shut down and society paused.  Assuming that  people stayed home while the year  flew  by as if Spring did not know to wait. It accurately  represents  the state everyone was in, at the start of the pandemic, and how confused and lost we all were. As the laws became stricter on how many people were allowed in public areas, the crowds lessened, and the lyrics perfectly reflect this in words “Streets erased of footprints.”

Adding to this song, one member, Jungkook, wanted to add the fact that they had to cancel many of their shows and activities they had planned for the year. Jungkook revealed, “What I wanted to illustrate was that since our tours were canceled because of COVID-19 and we couldn't meet our ARMY (the name of BTS fans), I tried to express my longing and sadness through  song lyrics.”

Not only are the lyrics meaningful, but the accompanying  video as well. In the music video for "Life Goes  On", you can see member, V, driving through a long tunnel and reaching towards the end, where there is light. It is symbolic to the meaning of the song and shows that there will be light at the end of the pain we are all facing this year. During this scene, they sing, “There’s no end in sight, is there a way out?", perfectly matching the lyrics of the unknown that is to come but knowing that it will end at one point. They wanted to bring  hope  to their listeners and bring comfort that we lacked this year.
