Bellerophon and Pegasus track the chimera into the crags, where it pads out to face them in combat. The monster roars and cries from all its heads. It blows fire from its all heads towards the hero on his steed, attempting to scorch these trespassers. But Pegasus is a master of the air and easily dodges the chimera‘s assault. Bellaraphon begins to shoot arrows at the wretched creature. But the chimera‘s natural agility and fire breath make it nigh impossible for the arrows to find their mark. The battle is truly intense. The chimera‘s agile ferocity and fire breath match Pegasus's flying abilities nearly perfectly. Bellaraphon knows he has to outwit his ferociuos opponent, and he comes up with a plan...

He made his way towards me with determination in his eyes. He then spoke to me, "I have a plan. But for it to work, I require time. You must distract the beast until I come back."

I gripped my xiphos tightly and gave him a firm nod. "I will try my best."

Pausing, I took a moment to look into his face, trying to spot any doubtfulness in his eyes. Opening my mouth, I quickly asked, "But what is the plan? I must know what I am agreeing to, or at least have an assurance of your fidelity."

Bellaraphon then said,"No, I must keep this to myself, in case my plan amounts to failure. Then the guilt shall only be mine to bear."
