My take on school supplies

Sara Saunders

Every year I am always needing to go to the store maybe a week after the school year started to get more supplies. Teachers always say we need more supplies than what was on our school list. Teachers also will tell us to get things we don’t need. This will be a list of what you REALLY need.

Notebooks: Now with technology in all of our classes the use of notebooks are decreasing. I would recommend having a large size notebook for math class. For all of your other core classes you should probably have folders with prongs then put some loose leaf paper in the prongs. For the majority of my classes we barely use any notebooks. For immersion art class you will need a sketchbook and if your are in STEM you will need a notebook with graphing paper.

Folders: For every class like I said for notebooks you should get folders with prongs (most recommended plastic instead of paper) and that would be for your core classes. For arts classes a regular plastic folder would be fine.

Pencils: I would recommend getting A LOt of pencils. Mechanical pencils seem to last a lot longer. Then you should get lead refills. You can get a pencil pouch to put the pencils in but for me this year it seemed a lot easier to put them in my chromebook. You also should buy a pack of colored pencils and pens and those you can put in a pencil pouch.

Scissors/Glue: Each student should get a pair of scissors and glue.

Trapper Keeper?: This year I started off the year using a trapper keeper but it was so heavy and hurt my shoulder. OUr school does NOT allow bookbags but we are allowed to use string bags and that is the easiest for me.

Headphones: You will definitely need headphones. A lot of teaches (not all) let us listen to music while working on individual activities. We also use them during testing so you will have to get some soon or later!’
