I see people in YouTube comments and in real life saying today’s music is crap, there are no good songs anymore, and the generation is going down the drain. I, myself used to believe that but now I don’t. There are plenty of great songs out there for everyone that have been released in the past 20 years. So without further ado, here is BEN’S GUIDE FOR GOOD MUSIC THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 10 YEARS OR LESS!

Vulfpeck - Thrill of the Arts ★★★★☆

The first album goes to one of my favorites and it’s relatively new. This album is from a small funk band up in Michigan called Vulfpeck. It’s called Thrill of the Arts. Now, Vulfpeck has been around for over 5

years and they’ve released 4 EPs before this LP.

Now, I personally like their second EP, Vollmilch

(whole milk in German), which all around is a

great little disc but this record is where the funk

shines. Songs like Funky Duck and Walkies really

really stand out on this album. Their featured

singer Antwaun Stanley on the past few EPs is

on this album too for Funky Duck which is an

all around great track. The record’s hit,

Back Pocket is minimalistic, with simple lyrics and simple instrumentation. As always, bassist Joe Dart comes through with his share of funky stuff and makes the track stand out. The last song really worth noting here is Christmas in L.A. which is a poppy little tune with great lyrics. This track was first released as an instrumental on the EP Fugue State in 2014. The lyrics give the track more calming qualities and makes the song way more accessible. I gave the record 4 stars though, because of all the good songs, there are at least 2 duds on the album. A great album nonetheless by the Vulf of the Peck.
