Generally, there has been a steady decrease in the OECS enrolment data over the five-year period under review at all grade levels in both genders. However, there are a few increases in 2017-18 grade K, grade 3 boys, grade 4 girls, grade 5 and grade 6, in 2018-19 grade 4 boys, grade 5 girls and in 2019-20 grade 5 boys. Overall, there has been a steady decrease in OECS enrolment total, however there was slight increase in 2017-18 enrolment.
The distribution of the various Member States in the OECS region for enrolment in Primary level institutions is displayed.
Other general observations noted are:
● In the British Virgin Islands, overall enrolment started with a decrease for the first two years under review and then increased over the last two years.
● For Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Saint Kitts Nevis and Grenada, overall, enrolment fluctuated over the five-year period under review.
● In Saint Lucia and Dominica, there has been a steady decline in enrolment over the last five years.
OECS Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Enrolment
Trends in pre-primary level enrolment in the OECS over the past five years shows slightly higher male entrants than females. This trend is consistent across pre-primary, primary and secondary levels.
