This section presents information regarding the number of pupils registered in the different levels of education such as Early Childhood, Primary, Special Education, Secondary and Post- Secondary Institutions.  For each level of education, the data is disaggregated by sex and by type whether government/ public or government assisted / private institutions and finally the total number of pupils for each participating Member State.

The data sets reflect the total number of pupils by age, sex and school type whether public or private with the resulting overall enrolment for each level. This layout is repeated for each participating Member State for each level of education. The final total is then aggregated for the OECS region for each cycle of education. From the enrolment data, it is possible to calculate the number of pupils who are “under-aged”, “class-aged” and “over-aged”.

The enrolment data is able to provide useful trends such which reflect the growth or decline in the number of pupils in the respective Member States, as it relates to each cycle, and the overall trends across the OECS as a region.

OECS Enrolment

For the 2021-2022 period, the total enrolment for the OECS was 54,119; of which 51% of the population was males and 49% females as demonstrated in the diagram below.
