In both the primary and secondary in the OECS Member States, the proportion of private enrolment is less than that of the public enrolment; less than 15 percent overall.
Pupil/Teacher Ratio: Primary and Secondary
On average, at the primary level in the OECS, there are 13 pupils per teacher. Hence the pupil teacher ratio is stated as 13:1. At the secondary level the corresponding ratio is appproximately 10:1 in the OECS.
Across the Member States, some pupil teacher ratios at the Primary and then Secondary level are stated below:
● Dominica - there are 11 students to 1 teacher;
● Saint Kitts & Nevis - there are 12 students to 1 teacher;
● Saint Vincent & the Grenadines - there are 13 students to 1 teacher;
● Saint Lucia and the British Virgin Islands - there are 14 students to 1 teacher;
● Grenada - there are 16 students to 1 teacher.
Secondary Education:
● Saint Kitts & Nevis - there are 7 students to 1 teacher;
● Dominica, Saint Lucia and the British Virgin Islands - there are 9 students to 1 teacher;
● Grenada and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines - there are 12 students to 1 teacher.
