Promotion Rate by Grade

 

Definition: Proportion of pupils from a cohort enrolled in a given grade at a given school year who study in the next grade in the following school year.

Dropout Rate by Grade (DR)

 

Definition: The proportion of students who exit the school system prior to completion of the final grade/ form. This does not include transfers or migration.

Gross Enrolment Rate in Early Childhood Care and Education

 

Definition: Total number of children enrolled in early childhood care and education programs, regardless of age, expressed as a percentage of the population in the relevant official age group.

Percentage of Trained Teachers

 

Definition: Number of teachers who have received the minimum organized teacher training (pre-service or in-service) required for teaching at the specified level of education in the given country, expressed as a percentage of the total number of teachers at the same level of education.

Gender Parity Index (GPI)

 

 Definition: Ratio of female to male values of a given indicator.

Youth Literacy Rate

Definition: The number of persons aged 15 to 24 years who can both read and write with an understanding of short simple statements on their everyday life, divided by the population in that age group. Generally, ‘literacy’ also encompasses ‘numeracy’, the ability to make simple arithmetic calculations.
