At the primary level, enrolments range approximately from 1300 upwards to 15,000 for the Academic year 2022-2023 as shown on figure 3.2. Pupil enrolment varies amongst the Member States based on their population size. Hence, countries with smaller populations such as Anguilla and Virgin Islands have smaller enrolments than St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia.

Further disaggregation of the enrolment shows that most primary pupils attend public schools as seen on figure 3.3. It is notable that in Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica there are higher proportions of private enrolment whereas in the other territories the proportions are quite small. The lower levels of private enrolment could possibly be linked to the costs associated with accessing these institutions.
