I furrowed my brows. “How could Linda live in my current house?”
Felix stretched, flipping over to lay on his other side. I shielded him with my arms, afraid he might fall. “I don’t know, maybe you two are housemates…” He said with a laugh. Linda giggled, too, as did I.
All of a sudden, I could feel something wrong. A worry set deep in my guts. I tried to warn Linda and Felix about it, but when I opened my mouth to speak, not a word came out. I tried to shout, but only my mouth moved. No words, no way of letting them know what’s about to happen.
I turned to look behind myself, and just as I did, something exploded. Felix jumped off of my lap, and I leaned too far backwards, slipping off of the branch. I tried to catch it as I fell, but instead, I grabbed Linda’s jacket, causing her to fall too. When I felt I hit the ground, everything faded to black.
In my passed-out state, a worry washed over me again. Where’s Linda? Where’s Felix? Are they okay?
It felt like hours until I could finally open my eyes. And when I did, I noticed I was back in my room. I saw the same sage colored curtains I hung up when I got here, the same plants on my windowsill, the same ugly beige walls.
