No one answered. Mark looked over the windows. He saw nothing because it was very dark inside. He went to the backyard of the house and saw a backdoor. The door was unlocked from the outside, so Mark went in but suddenly the door closed, but he had a flashlight. He turned on his flashlight and saw dusty furniture, many paintings and old photos of him and his daughter. While he was looking around the house, he found a black key. He also found a basement that was opened. He entered the basement and saw his friend Jim locked up in a cell. Jim was scared and couldn’t believe his eyes. Mark saw that he needed a key to unlock it. He tried to unlock the door with the key he found earlier in the house.

He unlocked the cell door, and Jim came out of the cell.

Let’s get out of here before he catches us! said Mark. Mark and Jim ran out of the basement. They ran to the back door, but suddenly, the old man came out of the shadows blocked the exit.

“You’re not going anywhere!” said the old man with his angry voice.

“Why should we? And why did you kidnap Jim?!”

Because he badly reminded me of one of my dear missing children,” the Old Man said sadly.

The boys tried several times to escape through the old wooden window, but to their demise, they quickly got caught by the old man and were put into two separate dark and wet cells. Luckily, both cells were next to each other making Jim and Mark able to work together on an escape plan from the Old Man's custody.
