the English Ministry has grown steadily. There are currently
two adult small groups in EM. The first is the young adult
group, generally comprised of younger adults in their 20’s
and 30’s. The second group is made up of older adults
ranging in age from 30’s to 50’s, mostly married adults with
young children.
Under the leadership of Pastor Jacob, the English Ministry
has grown from having just a handful of families with young
children to having more than 30 families – from younger
newly-married couples to families with grandchildren,
and all the life stages in between. An exciting new chapter
for the adult family ministries in EM will begin April,
when we will launch five home- based small groups. Who
are the adults in the English Ministry? The adults in EM
come from a variety of different places, backgrounds, and
cultures. Most come from immigrant families, but not all
are Korean. Some grew up in church, some did not. Most
have some understanding of the Korean language, but
many do not. Very few have parents or grandparents who
attend the KM at our church. The vast majority moved
here for jobs or schooling from states far away from North
Carolina.

The hope of any family is that church would be a
welcoming place where it is clear that there is a place where
every member of their family belongs. May God draw all
of hearts together under His sovereign power, that many
families may experience the transforming and redeeming
love of Jesus Christ lived out through the lives of His people.
What brings us together is the desire for a spiritual
community where there is sufficient shared life experience
to make building meaningful relationships easier, and
where our children have the opportunity to experience
the same among their peers. Families who visit and then
choose to stay in the EM frequently comment that they
feel a strong sense of community here. They are especially
pleased to find that there is an active children’s and youth
ministry, thanks to Pastor Daniel and Pastor Soo, where
there is sound teaching from the word of God by dedicated
