선교지에서 온 편지
또다른 고향에서 보낸 추수감사절
A국에서 Joy
억합니다. 그래서 저는 오늘도 여러분들을 통해서 저에게 주
어지는 힘과 격려를 인하여 하나님께 감사를 드립니다.
선교지에서 죠이가 보냅니다. 좋은 한 주 보내시길 기원합
니다.
The weather here is getting colder day by day. Some
mornings the temperature will drop to 14 degrees F; and

곳의 날씨는 날이 갈수록 추워 집니다. 아침에는 온도
가 영하 10도로 떨어지고 오후 온도가 영상으로 올라
가면 따뜻한 날씨라고 생각될 정도입니다. North Carolina
가 그립다는 이야기 입니다. 하지만 저는 여기에 있는 것이
너무나 행복하기도 합니다. 왜냐하면 이곳에 있는 선교팀, 그
리고 친구들과 추수감사절을 축하하는 시간을 가지며 11월
을 또 하나의 흥분되는 달로 보냈기 때문인데요. 마카로니-
치즈나 chicken pot pie와 같이 미국에서 흔히 먹는 추수감사
절 음식들을 준비해 여기에 있는 대학교에 가지고 가서 학교
에 있는 친구들에게 추수감사절의 의미를 설명하고 미국에서
는 추수감사절을 어떻게 즐기는지 이야기해 주었습니다. 그
시간을 통하여 종교의 자유와 우리가 진정으로 감사하는 것
들이 무엇인지 설명을 할 수 있었습니다. 감사절을 이곳에 있
는 친구들과 즐기는 것이 저에게 미국에 있는 고향을 생각나
게 하면서도 이곳이 저의 고향이라는 생각을 갖게 했습니다.
우리 친구들은 저희 팀과 제가 준비한 것을 너무나 감사했고
저는 그들의 마음이 저희들이 나누는 하나님에 대하여 점점
더 열리는 것을 느꼈습니다. 이곳에 있는 동료들로부터 계속
해서 섬김을 받은 저와 저희 팀은 이렇게 추수감사절을 맞아
친구들에게 베풀 수 있다는 것에 너무나 감사했습니다.
또 저희 교회의 기도와 후원에 대해서도 진정으로 감사의 말
씀을 드리길 원합니다. 제가 마음이 힘들고 낙심되는 날이면
이곳에 있는 저와 함께 동역하는 랄리 교회의 모든 분들을 기

I guess this is my way of saying I miss North Carolina.
Still, I am so happy to be here because November was yet
another exciting month. The team and I got to celebrate
Thanksgiving with our friends. We prepared American
Thanksgiving dishes like mac n cheese and chicken pot
pie, and brought it to the university for a big feast. We
shared with our friends what Thanksgiving is and how
we celebrate it. It allowed us to bring up religious freedom
and talk about who we were most thankful to. Celebrating
a big holiday with our friends here not only reminded me
of home, but also made it become more of my home as
well. Our friends were so grateful for everything the team
and I prepared, I can feel their hearts opening up more and
more to things we share about God. After being served by
our gracious friends here time and time again, the team
and I were so grateful for the opportunity to host some-
thing as big as Thanksgiving for our friends. I am also so
thankful for LHR, for your prayers and support. On the
days where I feel defeated and lost, He reminds of me of
all of you who are partnered with me here. So I thank God
for the strength and encouragement He provides through
you all.
