TOPPING
Ingredients and Equipment
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups milk
2 eggs
Fresh Strawberry
Directions
S
trawberry is rich in vitamin C and nutrition, and it
can help your digestion as well. It is also a favorite
food item for Ivy children! Homemade pancakes
are very easy to make. When topped with fresh
strawberries, it’s a tasty and healthy breakfast that can
be prepared very quickly.
● Combine the dry ingredients and whisk
them until they are well blended
● Add milk, eggs, and oil, and mix until
smooth
● Turn hot-plate up to medium heat. If you
are using a non-stick frying pan, you do not
need to grease it. If not, use a small amount
of vegetable oil and let it heat up a bit
before adding the batter to the pan
● Pour pancake mixture in ¼ cup amounts
● Turn when tops are covered with bubbles
and edges look cooked
● Remove from the pan when pancakes stop
steaming
● Serve the pancakes, and let your child add
the strawberries as topping
Notes
● This cooking activity can be set up on two tables; one for making pancakes, and one for chopping strawberry
● Make sure children wash their hands before they begin
● There is no “right way” to chop strawberries. The focus should be on learning how to use a knife properly
