T
he athletic department has renamed October to
“Soctober”! During the month of “Soctober”,
Daystar hosted 2 JISAC soccer tournaments, with
over 50 teams from 11 schools participating at the
Elementary school level. Daystar also hosted the BASE
elementary school soccer tournament as well as the
Middle School Boys Soccer tournament. In preparation
for the tournament the Middle School Soccer team had
two friendly matches, against HOPE and KAIWEN. Our
PE teachers also used this time of the year to train in
soccer and our most popular DRAGON program class
is the soccer class. “Soctober” has sadly, come to an
end, but sports at Daystar keep on going throughout the
school year!
school honorably. Our Elementary Baseball and Tennis
teams held tryouts for over 100 students and have been
diligently practicing throughout the season on Tuesdays
and Thursdays. The baseball team won their first game
and participated in their first tournament on November
10th. The gymnastics ASA is preparing for a meet
in December, and the ES PE department is preparing
students for the upcoming JISAC events of Handball.
Don’t forget about swimming either! Our swimming
team has been busy, sending athletes to meets and
preparing for upcoming competitions. It sure has been
a busy start to the year, and even though the winter

Helping from the Heart
I
n the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018,
a group of passionate, caring volunteer parents, initiated
Daystar Parents Charity Group. Working with Daystar
Academy, they built a charity platform, so that more teachers,
students and parents could participate in charity events and
help those who are in need in our communities. While offering
help, they are also promoting values of the Daystar family.
Last semester, the Daystar Parents Charity Group spent two
months rebuilding children’s classrooms, refurbishing the
school walls and creating a clean, and bright environment for
Guang Ai School, a charity school built for homeless children
and children from families in need. After that, the Group held
a fun activity between Daystar families and Guang Ai School,
and the kids all had a great time. This semester, the Group
helped decorate the walls of Guang Ai School and donated balls
for the kids there, establishing an even closer relationship.
Therefore, we express our sincere thanks to the devotion of
Daystar Academy and Daystar families.
Daystar Parents Charity Group will carry out more charity
events. It’s our sincere hope that more parents will join us and
together we could make our communities more harmonious
and beautiful.
