IVY BILINGUAL SCHOOL
Ivy Action
Warms Hearts
By Ivy Bilingual School Eco-city Experimental Campus (Tianjin)
C
hinese people value the virtues of altruism and gratitude, which
are also lessons to shape a child’s personality.
Recently, children from Pre-K2 class of Ivy Bilingual School
Eco-city Experimental Campus in Tianjin visited the charity station of
No.1 community in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city. With the help of
volunteers, boys and girls donated supplies they had prepared to the
charity station and viewed a series of articles contributed by other
residents of Eco-city.
Lovingly cared for by their parents and teachers, these children have
never experienced the dark side of life. This charitable and educational
activity revealed to the children for the first time that there are still
many people in need, some with disabilities, some without parents,
some living with poverty and some children with little access or means
to education even if they are eager to learn.
Through this activity, the children have started to become more
concern and aware about what is happening outside their little world.
When asked would they like to try and help people in need, all children
said “I will” in a loud and honest voice.
The school used the funds raised in the campus flea market to purchase
stationery, while children brought a lot of supplies from home. An
inventory was made and there were about 160 pieces of clothes, two
dozen books, more than 70 toys, some 60 stationery items and four
towels.
The teachers at Ivy Bilingual School Eco-city Experimental Campus
have helped the children understand the joy in helping others, and
the importance of kindness with real actions. This charity activity may
have concluded, but Ivy Education Group will continue to act in charity
work. In the future, Ivy Education Group will gather the efforts of
compassionate families to warm more hearts and light up more lamps
of hope.
