IVY MI KINDERGARTEN
By Ivy MI KIndergarten First City Campus (Chengdu)
T
he silence of the school was broken by the
sunrise. What’s happening? Children from
Class K1B at Ivy MI Kindergarten First City
Campus (Chengdu) were picking vegetables
in the garden under the guidance of their teacher.
They were all excited. What a fresh experience to
pick vegetables they planted by themselves!
Many children had already lined up to the freshly
picked vegetables before the small vegetable
market opened. They were talking excitedly,
making the small vegetable market so lively and
boisterous.
In the end, the children sold all the
vegetables, with the help of their parents.
This is the first time that the students
have been able to harvest their own
vegetables and witness the fruits
of their labor. A small piece
of land provided them
with an opportunity
to observe,
discover, play and harvest. They divided their work,
cooperated with one another, communicated,
shared, and were one with nature. They were all
extremely happy and proud!
This activity not only helped the students from Class
K1B be proud of their work, it also brought joy to the
children who bought vegetables, and parents alike.
The kindergarten plantation provided a way for
children to get close to nature. The school has
set up “Yimi Garden” this semester, so that the
children can plant by themselves. They can
personally experience planting and harvesting,
learn the growth process of common crops,
and understand the difficulty of growing
food. They can experience the hardships
of labor, and the joy of harvesting.
The plantation will become a
paradise for children to attain
personal development.
