Daystar Sanlitun campus is always alive and
buzzing with amazing activities!
Building Greenhouses Still Life Drawing in Urban Garden
Just a few weeks into the school year, the Daystar
Sanlitun community got together for their very first
building project. After weeks of collecting plastic
bottles from the community, Daystar Sanlitun built
their recycled bottle greenhouse. The greenhouse was
completed through the combined efforts of students,
parents, and teaching and operations staff. In their
next steps, they will install insulation and begin moving
in plants. To cultivate student’s observation ability, learn about
different types of plants and how they change through
seasons, the Grade 3 students stepped into the school’s
urban garden on September 25th for a still-life drawing
session. Students observed a variety of plants in close-
up details while splashing their creativity onto the
canvas.
Making Mooncakes On October 21st, the Daystar Sanlitun StarParent
organization and school staff hosted the second annual
Harvest Festival.
In celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival, students
at Daystar Sanlitun campus learned how to make
traditional Mooncakes in their Chinese classrooms.
Ingredients included rice flour, butter, sugar and red
bean paste. Students made the dough, filled them with
red bean paste and then pressed them into the molds.
The students not only enjoyed eating their mooncakes
but also sharing them with all the staff members at
Daystar Sanlitun.
Harvest Festival
This year, Daystar parents worked in conjunction with
the parent organization from Ivy Kindergarten Sanlitun
to host a joint event. The Harvest Festival showcased
a number of fun-filled events that were fit for all ages.
Activities included face painting, pumpkin rolling, tug-
of-war, three-legged races, recycled bottle pumpkin
painting and sack races, among many others!
The Harvest Festival was a huge success and really
helped strengthen the Sanlitun community! A great day
was had by all! A huge “THANK YOU!” to our amazing
parent community and hardworking staff for hosting
such a special community event.
