and donate the funds to Tongxin Huhui. What are the roles and responsibilities of association
members?
How did we establish our charity association? In the Daystar Sanlitun Charity Association, every
member plays different roles and shoulders various
responsibilities. For example, every Tuesday, members
gather together to talk over lunch about the weekly
objective, labor division and how to carry out their
work. During activities, every member will take turns
to act as a leader, publicity personnel, designer,
photographer and recorder. In short, kids who join the
Association will not only help others in person, but also
improve their own abilities. Therefore, more students
would be inspired to take part in charity, and everyone
has a chance to become a global citizen that cares
about others and serves their own communities.
The idea of a charity association was proposed by
teacher Zhang Ning. She intended to build a charity
association led by students, to inspire students’ love
and responsibility for the society we live in. By the
end of September, after the initial efforts made by our
principal Ms. Kari, Teacher Zhang Ning and Teacher Su
Xia, we invited Grade 3 and Grade 4 students who are
interested to set up Daystar Sanlitun Charity Association
together. Once we sent our invitation, we received a
lot of interest from our students. Many students were
willing to devote their time and energy to charity and
joined the Association. We’ve now got a total of ten
student members.
