The Development Studies Centre was established in 1997 as
the "Development Studies Program" until 2007. It aims to
deepen the concepts of development and to link them to their
practical context by providing theoretical and conceptual
frameworks that explore the realities of development in
Palestine, including examining the interactions between
economic, social and political factors of development, as
well as the existing structures of power and control that
prevent the achievement of sustainable development due to
the occupation restrictions.
Through a combination of academic research and
community activities, the Center seeks to strengthen the
solid relations between theory and practice. Its activities
in this field include: seminars, workshops, field surveys,
evaluation studies, and needs assessment. On the one hand,
the Centre works on a number of research projects in various
development areas in cooperation and coordination with
local and international institutions, and on the other hand, it
implements a number of other community projects aimed at
empowering marginalized groups and integrating them into
the development process.
