I.2 The Institute of Law was established in 1993 - as the "Law Center" until 1997 to contribute in the process of modernizing the legal structures in Palestine and the developing of human capacity in the academic, professional and applied fields. The Institute is an important center for academic and applied research as well as legal information. The Institute is also the cornerstone in the field of basic and continuing legal education. It plays an active role in holding scientific conferences and symposia, and the provision of consultancy and research services within the scope of its work. It enjoys distinct international relations and is recognized for its prestige and contribution in the areas of modernization of legal and informatics systems, legislative drafting, legal education and judicial training. The Institute is also characterized by its relationship with the sectors of society in general and the justice sector in particular, where its programs and activities are developed in response to the priorities and needs of society, with the aim of enhancing skills, building capacity and raising legal awareness.
