The first documented manual for this unit dates back to 1976,
while the last publication dates back to 1999. According
to the publications of this unit, during the 1970s, this unit
was known as the "Office of Documentation and Research",
and was later known as the "Research Centre" in the early
1980s. The name then changed to the "Documentation and
Research center" until the end of the 1980s. During the
1990s, the unit was known as the "Center for the study and
documentation of Palestinian society", to be its last name.
