Founded in 1972, the Faculty of Arts is one of the first
faculties at the university to award a bachelor's degree in
1976. The faculty is the largest in terms of the number of
majors it offers, the number of students enrolled in it, and the
number of students who take courses offered as university
requirements. The faculty includes 17 academic programs
offering bachelor's degree, plus 6 academic programs leading
to a master's degree. The faculty also offers a number of
different language courses (Spanish, Turkish, Italian, Chinese,
Hebrew).
The Faculty of Arts also promotes the cultural spirit of Birzeit
University by providing all the university's compulsory
requirements of Arabic, English, cultural studies and physical
education, thus, constituting a forum for university students
from various disciplines. The faculty also includes the Arab
and Palestinian Studies Program (PAS) for foreign students,
as well as the sub-specialization in women's studies.
