ly), as well as a joint chapter of the Faculties of Science and Engineer- ing, as it contains only four publications distributed evenly between the two colleges. 5 As for the rest of the university colleges, none of their publications could be identified, by virtue of their scarcity, and it was not possible to access what was actually released. Since many units have undergone a change in their nomenclature (often in con- nection with the evolution of their structural nature, such as evolution from unit to center or from center to institute), the final designation of the unit has been adopted, which is reflected in the profiles of the units at the beginning of each chapter. 6 As for the sequence of presentation of publications in each chapter, the main criterion was the year of publication, from the oldest to the most recent; however, that sequence was interrupted by another cri- terion, namely, the order of publications according to the series in which they were produced. Once the first publication is mentioned in a series, it is followed by the remainder of the publications in the same series, to its end. The design of this catalogue reflects a range of criteria and characteristics, and therefore the icons used in the design are explained at the beginning. 7 Many problems have hampered the rapid progress in the preparation of this catalogue, and every time there was a problem that encour- aged the working group to deal with and overcome it since the team is convinced with the importance of working on this catalogue, and the genesis of this unit in general, which comes to address the causes of these problems and the institutionalizing of the publishing process at the university, which includes all of its units, like other prestigious international universities. As these units are distributed among institutes, centers, colleges and units that no longer exist, the catalogue is divided into four sections: Part one for the institutes and centers, and the second part for faculties, and section three for the units that are no longer exist. Section four was devoted to publications that had not been issued by a particular unit, but had been issued carrying the Uni- versity logo without reference to any of its units as a publisher. The section on institutes and centers has been presented first by vir- tue of the fact that it is the largest section which contains most of the publications in the catalogue. Internally, those sections were divided into chapters, 4 so that a chapter is devoted to each unit. The sequence of the chapters was arranged according to the date of establishment of each unit.
