ԱՇԽԱՐՀԻ ՀԱՅ ԲԱՐԵՐԱՐՆԵՐԸ ARMENIAN PHILANTHROPISTS OF THE WORLD
All members of this noble family had been patrons of education , science , culture , and enlightenment for about a century and a half . Monarchs of powerful empires , worldfamous scientists , political and military figures strived to establish contacts with them . The greats of the world were hosted in their castles . Acquaintanceship with them was honorable among high-ranking courtiers . The one-and-ahalf-century history of this family brought pride and recognition to the small homeland from where their roots originated .
The family history of the Lazaryans goes back to the rich man of New Jugha in Isfahan , Manuk Yeghiazar . His descendants moved from New Jugha to Russia , conducted trade and charity activities in Astrakhan , and then settled in Moscow in 1749 . Shortly after , this dynasty acquired rich estates , factories , iron and salt mines and luxurious castles . They were the owners of workshops for the production of silk and paper fabrics ․
In the conditions when Armenia lost its statehood and the Armenian people spread to different countries and continents , they assumed the responsibility to represent the interests of the Armenian people in Russia .
