In 2004 , he was bestowed the highest title of the National Hero of the Republic of Armenia for exceptional services to the Motherland . Kirk Kerkorian died on June 16 , 2015 at the age of 98 in Los Angeles .
The Medical School at the University of Nevada , Las Vegas , founded in 2014 , is named after Kirk Kerkorian . It was the first time , the name of a famous businessman and philanthropist appeared on any building . However , he did not welcome such an initiative .
In 2017 , the postage stamp dedicated to the theme " World-famous Armenians . 100th anniversary of the birth of Kirk Kerkorian ’’ was put into circulation in Armenia .
In 2018 , his monument was erected in Gyumri and his bust was placed in Stepanavan .
" You can remain poor all your life , even if you wear the most expensive clothes , travel in the most luxurious cars , wealth is not only material well-being , although it is better to be sad in a comfortable Mercedes than in a bus ," once said the National Hero of Armenia .
