ETERNAL VALUES
Turks were a nomadic people from Central Asia . Their life was connected with cattle breeding and they had a large supply of goat and sheep wool .
It is believed that nomads who lived in woolen tents were the founders of carpet art . Their simple monochrome carpets developed into works of art with more colourful and intricate patterns . Knotted or plain carpets are the most famous examples of Turkish art .
Carpets had been used in Turkish culture long before the arrival of the Turks in Anatolia and Minor Asia . In addition , the inhabitants of Anatolia had lived near and traded with carpet weaving nations such as the Sassanids . After the conquest of Anatolia , the Turks lived together with the Byzantines for about 400 years . Turkish carpet traditions connected with archaic cultures and Anatolian patterns developed into world famous Anatolian carpets . Turkish carpets are the best-selling household items in the world .
Turkish women have always been independent and supported their families . It was a matter of honour and a basic principle . During the analysis it can be concluded that most carpets were made at home . Turkish women who made carpets , kilims and sacks earned the same as those who earned by sewing clothes , making butter , cheese and yoghurt .
Turkish carpets and kilims are not just a matter of trade or aesthetics . They have become a way to say wishes to family , sometimes a family talisman , and a premise for good harvest .
Turkish desire for art , its aesthetic understanding , and the place of art in everyday life are undoubtedly most reflected in traditional carpet weaving . It has been developed for centuries and showed similarities and differences between traditions .
