Home-made carpets from local wool are common in this region . Often there is a plot with a stepped niche and geometric shapes are softened by a plant ornament with carnations inside the niche . The same pattern adorns the background of the mihrab . Niche background colours are yellow-green or cyclamen red and contrast with the border .
KAYSERI
The city is located on the territory of ancient Cappadocia . Carpets are woven from wool and silk . Nowadays merged cotton is often used . Composition of XIX century carpets has an ornate medallion and a border with grape branches . Traditional prayer carpets have the Majid style . Colours are from dark blue to yellow , all shades of red , ivory , blue .
