WEAVING THE THREAD OF FATE INTO THE CARPET ...
The Russian Museum of Ethnography in St . Petersburg has presented masterpieces of carpet weaving and decorative and applied art of Azerbaijan . An interesting exhibition was held in the museum , where more than a hundred unique exhibits were presented . The exhibition has presented unique samples of Azerbaijani culture from the collection of the Russian Museum of Ethnography and the results of joint research by Russian and Azerbaijani specialists . Among the exhibits there are more than 40 carpets and rugs , an object of national pride and an outstanding phenomenon of the Azerbaijani culture as well as other works of decorative and applied art of Azerbaijan . The earliest and most unique example is Surakhani , a pile carpet made at the end of the XVIII century in Baku . For the first time , many samples of embroidery , heels , copper embossing , and samples of women ’ s clothing in Azerbaijan are presented . The project reflects the richness and significance of the joint cultural heritage of Russia and Azerbaijan , collected and preserved in the collection of the Russian museum , serves as an example of humanitarian interaction in the preservation , study and presentation of museum collections .

IRAN OF THE QAJAR EPOCH : EXHIBITION AT THE STATE MUSEUM OF ORIENTAL ART
The unique and enormous exhibition Luxury of Sunset : Iran of the Qajar Epoch will open on May 15 at the State Museum of Oriental Art . The collection of the museum contains more than a thousand art objects from the time of the Qajars ( 1795-1925 ), and this is one of the largest collections in the world . Now visitors will be able to see more than 300 exhibits , including remarkable painting monuments of the late XVIII and early XX centuries . Many of them will be presented to the general public for the first time . The exhibition is created in the way so that guests can get the complete picture of the unique Qajar art , religion and superstition , craft and military traditions , everyday life and philosophy , international relations of that time , etc . The extensive collection makes it possible to enjoy a variety of types and techniques of Iranian art of the Qajar period : visitors will see easel paintings , miniatures , ceramics , glass , wood and metal items , tiles , carpets and painted fabrics , manuscripts and weapons . The will close on July 25 .
