►Do you have your own team or do you collaborate with others companies and designers ? - In the field of design , I work alone , creating only my own projects . But for production , of course , I have a team of experienced professionals who support my ideas .
►What are you working on now ? - Today I am working on a unique design based on what has been created in India and Nepal over the past 15 years . In Iran , these were carpets with thinner knots , and in Qom , they were made of better materials . By 2022 , I will try to create new carpets with finer knots . There is no a day when I don ’ t think about new projects . Unfortunately , due to the pandemic , many exhibitions have been canceled . But I have time to work on fresh design and production . At the next exhibition , we will definitely show new products .
►Rugs in Iran , India and Nepal are varied in styles and techniques . They are made with natural wool , silk and viscose ; they range from nomadic carpets , kilims , classic oriental carpets to modern original designs . What are the most popular carpets today ? - Today everyone is in search of innovations and new technologies , but the possibilities of carpet techniques and materials are limited . Wool and silk are still the best materials . In general , I think different countries have different tastes . The price also plays an important role . The demand for modern carpets is constantly growing . We have clients in Europe and the USA , Russia , as well as in Asia , for example , in the Arab countries and China , and recently also in Iran .
►Carpets of your Onyx Сollection impress with the combination of traditions and modernity . How is it possible to transfer traditional Persian ornaments into the modern language of patterns ? - Transforming a traditional pattern into a modern spirit is not as difficult as it might seem . Sometimes reducing the pattern and changing the colour combination already makes a carpet look modern . Basically , you have to feel it , understand which traditional pattern can be changed and how .
►This issue of our magazine is dedicated to ornaments . What advice can you give our readers how to properly combine different patterns and textures ? - It is important that the carpets have the same base colour . The repeating colors make the patterns harmonious . You can follow the 60-40 rule . If you combine two ornaments , the larger one should occupy 60 %, the smaller one 40 %. This allows you to combine patterns , so that they do not look overwhelmed .
►A beautiful carpet gives pleasure to its owner for a long time . It is an investment in quality material , design and craftsmanship . Tell us how to choose the right carpet . - These are the criteria that I would recommend when choosing a carpet . The first is the right size : a lot of people buy the wrong size carpets . The second is the matching of the colour with the colour of the interior . The third is design consistency . And , of course , the type of carpet and its quality are of great importance .
►How has the carpet industry changed over the past year ? - The variety of models and original novelties has aroused interest in carpets among the new generation . Carpets have again become a part of the modern environment .
►Describe your company in three words . - Passion for innovation .
