Antonio Santin was born in 1978 in Madrid . In 2005 he received his master ’ s degree in graceful Arts at the University of Madrid Complutense .
His works have been exhibited at international exhibitions , they are presented in collections of National Centre of Plastic Arts in Paris ( Centre national des arts plastiques , Paris ) and numerous private collections around the world .
Today Antonio Santin is living and working in New York . The artist ’ s creations at the same time scare and capture , attract and knock down . He organises complex still lives , manipulating both objects and shape , to build the space he describes as ‘ more real than realityitself ’. He creates inner tension between surface and space , using a number of techniques that include both the foundations of classical painting and unexpected use of oil paint . According to the author , this allows to recreate sensory experiences of everyday life .
Antonio Santin pays tribute to tradition of Spanish tenebrism , but at the same time seeks his path in sculpture . He compares planes with tangible shapes made by light and shadow to create a continuous perceptual dialogue in every work . Interest in abstract patterns and opaque textures has led the artist to a series of unusual ‘ carpet ’ works , where the background is displayed to the fore , and the form seems to float under the surface .
