The meeting of the German-Uzbek Business Council and the joint business forum in
2018 was very productive, and the presence of such a representative delegation of Germany at
these events once again proved the interest of German companies in Uzbekistan and in
general in Central Asia.
It is gratifying to note that, members of the Business Council from the German side gave
a positive assessment of the reforms, being carried out in Uzbekistan, to ensure openness of
the economy, protect the investments of foreign investors, as well as expand and strengthen
good-neighborly and trade-economic relations between the countries of Central Asia.
Many of them assured that, measures aimed at sustainable development of
entrepreneurship and increasing the share of private property in the economy contribute to
further strengthening the trade and economic attractiveness of Uzbekistan in the international
arena and emphasize the economic potential of Uzbekistan in Central Asia.
As part of the event, a number of agreements were reached on organizing internships
for young entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan at German enterprises, organizing a round table with
the participation of Uzbek and European tour operators. An important event was the creation of
a special German industrial zone on the basis of the former Algorithm factory to produce high-
tech and export-oriented products.
On July 1, 2018, the group of companies “ONS Frankfurt GmbH”, with the support of the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of the Republic of
Uzbekistan in Germany, opened the Uzbek-German trading house in Tashkent to develop
export-import operations between the companies of Uzbekistan and Germany, as well as
attract European investors and innovative technologies in the Uzbek economy.
It is worth noting that upon taking office, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, the elected
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that "The main priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign
policy is the region of Central Asia, with which our country's national interests are connected."
In the further development and expansion of trade - economic and industrial
cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany, including with the involvement of Central Asian
countries in this process, it is proposed to organize joint visits of business circles of the two
countries, including the organization of the “Forum of Economic Cooperation of Central Asian
and Germany.
Thank you for attention!
