Taking this opportunity, I want to emphasize that Uzbekistan considers Germany as one
of the leading and developed countries of the world, which has a huge intellectual, economic,
technical, technological potential and a country without which today no political or economic
problem can be solved in the world. The Federal Republic of Germany is an important and
reliable international partner for us, and we are interested in further development of bilateral
mutually beneficial cooperation with it.
We highly appreciate the good relations between our countries, which have deep roots
and characterized by dynamism and a high level of mutual trust. Within the years of
independent development, we support the most intensive cooperation with Germany in
comparison with other European countries and we feel real assistance of the German side in
the implementation of large-scale reforms and transformations in Uzbekistan. For all this time,
Germany has become for us a long-term, reliable and pragmatic partner in European continent.
In this context, let me tell you a wise German proverb: “Life without friends is like life
without the sun” (Ein Leben ohne Freunde ist wie ein Leben ohne Sonne). I want to especially
emphasize that in recent years, the interaction of the two countries has been characterized by
the intensification of political dialogue, including through inter-parliamentary and inter-MFA
relations, as well as intensive contacts an exchanges in the military, educational, scientific,
cultural and other fields.
In order to further strengthen and develop our partnership and give it a new dynamic, we
support the continuation of the dialogue on the highest level. We are confident that the
forthcoming exchange of visits at the level of heads of state in 2019 will serve not only to build
up Uzbek-German relations, but also raising them to a completely new level.

The topic of today's event is "Uzbekistan and Germany: Cooperation in the field of

part of the large Eurasian continent and an important link that connects Europe and Asia.
Uzbekistan, which has common borders with all states of this region, is interested in its
stability and sustainable development. In this regard, the President of the Republic of
Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev identified Central Asia as the main priority of our country's
foreign policy.
Today there is a qualitatively new dynamics in the development of interstate relations in
Central Asia. The sides activated political dialogue at the highest and high levels and
intensified inter-parliamentary, inter-departmental and interregional relations. Additionally,
there is an increase in trade and economic cooperation, as well as, new transport routes are
being laid.
In the context of Afghanistan, I would like to note that early achievement of peace in
this country is important for ensuring security and stability in the region and in the fundamental
interests of the Central Asian states.
Uzbekistan is interested in active cooperation with Germany to ensure sustainable
development and security in Central Asian region, to establish peace and stability in
Afghanistan. We are convinced that the huge potential of cooperation between Uzbekistan and
