Berlin welcomed all initiatives of Uzbekistan in deepening cooperation in Central Asia
and strengthening regional security, including by contributing to stabilization of the situation in
Afghanistan. In his congratulatory message on Independence Day of Uzbekistan, addressed to
the President of Uzbekistan, German President Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier noted, “Germany
fully supports the large-scale reforms that Uzbek government is carrying out, especially the
policy of rapprochement with neighboring countries”.
Today, Uzbekistan and Germany have established relations of openness and close
partnership. One of the main factors which made Uzbekistan and Germany closer together is
the similarity of the positions and approaches of the parties to current issues of security and
development.
Not only Tashkent, but Berlin is also in favor of a peaceful settlement of the Afghan
conflict through negotiations and promotion of the socio-economic development of
Afghanistan. Uzbekistan supported Germany in implementing its strategy in Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan pursuing a responsible foreign policy and maintaining constructive relations with all
international partners, which coincides with Germany’s foreign policy priorities. Both countries
view terrorism, extremism and radicalization as the main threats to international security.
Today we are entering into a new period of development of multidimensional ties
between Uzbekistan and Germany. Undoubtedly, the visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan
