Жилой дом, построенный в 1952 году на Котельнической
набережной, — это пятая «сталинка». Огромная
176-метровая махина просматривается со всех точек
Садового кольца. С высоты птичьего полета видно, что
дом спроектирован в форме буквы «М» для того, чтобы
большинство квартир получило великолепный вид на
реку. Во все времена в Доме на Котельнической жили
актеры театра и кино, поэты, архитекторы — самые
известные люди страны. Возможно, поэтому дом часто
мелькал в кино. Например, в получившем в 1981 году
«Оскар» фильме «Москва слезам не верит».
На площади возле Красных ворот находится
138-метровая башня жилого дома, которая благодаря
удачному местоположению может потягаться по
высоте с Главным зданием МГУ. Интересен тот факт,
что это единственная из высоток, которая является еще
и выходом из метро. Поэтому она проектировалась с
особой тщательностью. Зная особенности местного
грунта, советские инженеры, изначально строили
башню с отклонением от оси на 16 сантиметров. Когда
дом был построен она «выпрямилась» самостоятельно —
вот такие тонкие расчеты!
