It was a warm September evening.
Leaves were unpretentiously rustling under our
feet while the sunset was spilling nacreous
colors all over the horizon. On the 25 th ,
participants of the City Poets' Club gathered
in the library named after Chekhov in order to
c o n g ra t u l a te t h e u n i o n l e a d e r, Da r ya
Bychikhina, on her birthday and attend her
debut recital which was called Poetess's Diary.
Darya is a brilliant and charismatic girl, with a
gentle soul and open-hearted. At her event,
she immersed us into the sensitive
atmosphere of love and human feelings and
played a small one-woman performance. At
the beginning, she warned the audience that
her poems were rather dedicated to a lyric
image than autobiographical but during the
performance it became clear that it would be
impossible to write those heartfelt lines
without experiencing those moments of
drama or joy. The author was reading her diary
she had kept during her young years. Her
memories about her childhood, first love,
family and friendship were accompanied by

sometimes caused tears to appear in the
spectators' eyes which were then inevitably
replaced by rays of happiness and joy. The
matter is that Darya believes in happiness and
is able to radiate it around just like the sun and
inspire people around her.

had a recital and the atmosphere there was
so warm and friendly that I dared to recite my
poems. I liked it! And here I am now! Later I
organized Open Marathon intended to let
young poets share their creative work. To go
back to my recital, I’d like to say I wanted to
touch each person’s soul and I think I
succeeded because many of them had tears
in their eyes. And if after my recital somebody
says “I love you” to his or her family or gives a
hug to his or her child, it means my aim has
been achieved. Their soul has been woken up.
There was a tea party after the recital
where all the guests celebrated Darya's talent
again and shared their enthusiastic reviews in
the atmosphere of togetherness. That was
the time when I managed to talk to Darya who
had already become a sunbeam in my artistic
journey.
Darya, let me thank you once again for
the amazing evening and the vivid emotions
you have given us! Please, tell me about your
own impressions of the recital. Do you think
you have managed to materialize your idea?
I’m delighted! I have a reverential
attitude to it. I have been writing poems since
my early childhood but I did not dare to show
them to anybody for a long time because I was
afraid of being misunderstood and
uninteresting with my creative work. This fear
must have originated from my childhood but it
passed off when I met some awesome girls at
the event called Marathon of Roses. One of its
