PHILOSOPHY
Everyone Can Fly
Elizaveta Kryazheva
Gymnasium School No. 1

When I was a child, I heard a legend
saying that everybody could fly. When a new
little human comes into the world, it grows
wings. But the adults, obsessed with hospitals,
pills and health, impress on the child that
flights are a mere fable. And the little one
believes it readily. Children are so naive!
Later on, the child grows up, turning
into another adult like that, unreflective,
breaking other people's destinies. The wings
ingrow under the skin as they are useless, and
the person forgets ever having had them. The
same as the wings, they forget their dreams,
their dear people, magic, funny stories… They
forget themselves. But can one be happy
without a dream? Can one love, having lost
their dearest people? Can one hope, having no
faith in miracles? Can one laugh, without any
experience of having fun? Can one live, having
lost themselves?
People can be so ignorant that at
times it is easier for them to switch off the sun
in order not to see the truth, than to change
their opinion. People are ready to make idols
for themselves out of other ignorants similar
to themselves, only to look like the rule and not
like an exception. They shower praises on
those who, having wings behind their backs,
invent the flight. They praise those who,
knowing how to fly, create airplanes. They hold
out their hands to sordid ignorants passing
superficial things off as creations, but they
are blind to real talents.

There is no rule that would have no
exceptions. Likewise, there are also intelligent
people in the world, those who have faith. They
know they have wings. They know they can fly.
They have learned to use the wings for their
intended purpose. They have become happy.
They try to show others that everything is
possible, that wings, the same as dreams, do
exist! Probably they are the ones who deserve
the title of idols. But people are stubborn.
They continue holding their ground. They
always do. Even when someone spreads his
wings and takes off right before their very
eyes. There's a saying that we see what we
want to see. Well, that's true. Those people
only see what they want to: pathetic, failing
attempts to rise above the ground. They don't
even suspect that they are able to rise. Above
the ground, above themselves, about the
stereotypes, above stupidity. Everybody is
able to. All you need to do is step over your own

everything!
