CULTURE Asian Experience Yustina Pika Lyceum BSPU, Blagoveschensk (Russia) S u m m e r i s m y fa vo r i t e s e a s o n because I don`t have studies and I do only what I am interested in. This summer was not an exception and I spent it with my family and friends. In June I was in the camp with my pals, with whom I shared a room. All 21 days we were together going on catamarans, watching movies and having a good time. In the middle of the shift we went for a walk to the forest and the view was amazing! High trees, the fresh air and the quiet of the routes filled the soul with peace and relief. Even a few hours in the forest can give you plenty of energy and inspiration. You feel healthy and enthusiastic! So, being busy with different activities, we didn`t notice how quickly the days in the camp had passed. July will be remembered for long walks, cycling and some other stuff, funny and exciting, but in August I had an experience that will always remain in my memory as an unforgettable one. I flew with my family to the seaside, to Thailand. People in Thailand are very friendly and kind. They take up the conversation eagerly so I had an opportunity to practice my English and enjoy the process of communication in a foreign language. I could easily exchange the information on the topic of the weather, hobbies and any touristic purposes. Talking with the locals I found out that the cult of white skin is highly developed in their culture and they explain it by the fact that the ancient Thais as well as princes and kings had beautiful white skin. Of course, "white Thais” are much darker than Europeans as there are many immigrants from African countries, whose skin color is chocolate or completely black but the whiter the skin, the higher the social status of the Thai.
