Уважаемые читатели, я предлагаю вашему вниманию текст « It’ s a Payday » и задания к нему. Сразу хочу сделать пояснение, что день, когда работник получает зарплату( или чек, как говорят в Америке) называется « payday ». Вот об этом и поговорим.
Новые слова и фразы урока:
1. to be sure – быть уверенным 2. many years of experience – много лет производственного опыта 3. to be pleased with – быть довольным чем-то, кем-то 4. a couple of …. – пара кого-то, чего-то 5. at the end of the day – в конце дня 6. My pleasure – Я делаю это с удовольствием –( так отвечают на похвалу) 7. something else – что-нибудь еще 8. exactly – точно 9. an anniversary bonus – премия в ознаменование годовщины 10. Take your family out to dinner – Пригласи свою семью в ресторан на обед.

Как сказать по-английски « должен что-то сделать »?
Для этого употребляется выражение « have to ».
Вы говорите: « I have to call him », « We have to be there on time » в настоящем времени.
« He had to work on the week-end », « You had to stay home » в прошедшем времени. « I will have to go there on Sunday » в будущем времени.
Для образования отрицательной формы вы употребляете вспомогательные глаголы, соответствующие времени повествования. Например,
I don’ t have to call him. We don’ t have to be there on time.
He didn’ t have to work on the week-end. You didn’ t have to stay home.
I will not have to go there on Sunday.( вместо will not можно сказать won’ t)
В вопросах вы тоже употребляете те же вспомогательные глаголы, например: Do you have to call her? Did you have to be there on time? Will you have to go there on Sunday?
Знаем ли мы предлоги?
1. Выражение « to be pleased with …» быть довольным кем-то, чем-то. Пожалуйста, обратите внимание, что в этом выражении мы употребляем предлог « with », например: I am pleased with you. Are you pleased with my work?

I am sure you remember that the name of Jack’ s cook in a restaurant is Mike. He is a very good cook. He has many years of experience. He never comes to work late. Jack is very pleased with his work. Today is a payday. Mike needs money. He has to pay rent and the other bills: a telephone bill, a gas bill, an electric bill, a Cable TV bill, a cell phone bill and a couple of credit card bills.
At the end of the day Mike walked into Jack’ s office. Jack smiled and gave Mike an envelope with a check inside.
« Thank you for your hard work!» said Jack.
« My pleasure », answered Mike.
Mike was about to leave Jack’ s
2. « a couple of …» употребляется для того, чтобы количественно обозначить понятие « несколько, немного » чегото, что можно посчитать. Например: a couple of days, a couple of books – пару дней, пара книг и т. д.

« Oh, yes, now I remember », said Mike.
He opened the second envelope that Jack gave him and saw the second check inside for $ 100.00. « What is it?» he asked. « It’ s your anniversary bonus », answered Jack. « Take your family out to dinner ».
Mike left Jack’ s office proud and happy.

А теперь вместо « a telephone bill » поочередно употребляйте rent, a gas bill, a TV cable bill, a cell phone bill, new clothes, the car, medical bills, medicine, the supermarket и т. д. Таким образом, вы сможете задать своему партнеру много разнообразных вопросов. Поменяйтесь ролями.
B. Обсудите с партнером следующие темы, связанные с содержанием текста:
Do you get money regularly? How often do you get money? Do you get money in a form of a check? Do you ever go out to eat? How often do you go out to eat?
