Xerxes’ Throne
The name of the eastern
hill on southwest Aigaleo
Mount - “Xerxes” - is
arbitrary, since no trace
of anything like that
exists there and nothing
is indicated in Kaupert
– Curtius map. If Xerxes’
throne was really set up,
this would have been
an ideal spot. In any
case, it is a construction
(maybe a “fryctoria”, a fire
beacon used to check on
the straights), while the
existence of a temple on
the rock face is not out of
the question.
