Aigaleo Station

Aigaleo Station is located under
Eleutherios Venizelos Square (or
Estavromenos Square). A stretch
of the ancient Sacred Way was
discovered there, along with
remains of a roadside cemetery.
They are both on display under a
shade at the station’s entrance. At
the same time, significant finds
from the excavations adorn both
entrances of the station, displayed
in showcases. One that proved
popular is the so called “Horse of
Elaionas”, the skeleton of a horse
that drowned in some flood of the
adjacent Kifissos River.
