Not far from the Sirens, was the Scylla and
Charybdis. First we went through Charybdis which
was sucking the sea, thus sinking the passing ships to
Scylla, a sea monster which was devouring everything
that went close; we couldn't manage to escape without
loses. Six of my men unjustly died in front of my eyes.
Unable to help I was looking at them while they were
trying to reach me desperately calling my name for
last-mentioned time. I have never seen in my life
such a horrible sight.
