Children Do NOT Belong in Prison: Ending migration detention of children and families in Slovakia SUMMARY Country: Slovakia The practice of migration detention is one of the key problems affecting the situation of migrant children in Slovakia, especially those accompanied by family members. Website: http://www.hrl.sk/zaistenie-rodin-s-detmi The Human Rights League (HRL) has partnered with several NGOs to raise awareness on the issue and promote alternatives to migration detention by working with the national government, local communities and UN bodies. Its activities include publishing research reports, making recommendations for policy and practice, implementing community awareness campaigns, providing information and building the capacity of professionals. Each partner organisation has a distinct role in providing complementary services and advocating for policy reform.
