The building is the old catholic church of a byzantine monastery which was a spiritual centre of 14th century. And it is part of world heritage site. It belongs to the type of complex cross-registered with splint and east end in two chapels. The church was converted by the Turks into a mosque between 1568 to 1571 under the name Isakigie Mosque. At the beginning of 20th century the building was repaired by Ottomans. Unfortunately, galleria was destroyed but the chapels remained.
