Okoljski vidik
V tehnološkem pogledu je ureditev preskrbe s hrano eden najpomembnejših dosežkov sodobnega sveta. Industrijska doba je prinesla vrsto sprememb v načinu pridelave, izvoru hrane in v prehrambnih izdelkih. Produktivnost se je povečala in preskrba je postala zanesljivejša. S hrano so povezane različne tehnologije, od mehanizacije do genskega spreminjanja.
Za zaščito potrošnikov, zdravja in varovanje okolja sodobne države nadzorujejo zakonska merjenja. Urad RS za meroslovje z meroslovnimi nadzorniki in inšpektorji preverja merila v uporabi in prometu( tehtnice, taksimetri, vodomeri, manometri …), količine predpakiranih izdelkov( ugotavljanje dejanskih količin, označevanje) in merske enote( ali je uporaba merskih enot na merilih in v javnih medijih skladna s sistemom merskih enot SI).
Environmental aspect
In terms of technology, food security is one of the most significant achievements of the modern world. The industrial age has brought about many changes in the cultivation methods, the origin of the food, and the food itself, i. e., what we eat. Productivity has increased, and supplies have become more reliable. Food is linked to technologies ranging from mechanisation to genetic modification.
Modern countries control legal measurements related to these areas to protect consumers, health, and the environment. The Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, with its supervisors and inspectors, provides supervision of measuring instruments in service( scales, taximeters, water meters, manometers, etc.), pre-packed products( ascertaining actual quantities, labelling), and measuring units( compliance with the SI units).
