Na občasni razstavi Človek in hrana v začaranem krogu smo pod drobnogled vzeli hrano – nekaj tako vsakdanjega, a nujno potrebnega –, ki od nekdaj vpliva na vse sfere življenja slehernega Zemljana. Pogledali smo v naše zbirke in našli celo vrsto zanimivih predme- tov, ki še niso bili predstavljeni z vidika uporabe in raz- voja tehnike v prehranski verigi. Tematika je aktualna tudi zaradi prestižnega naziva Evropske gastronomske regije, ki ga je v letu 2021 nosila Slovenija.
Primarna potreba po hrani človeka neprestano žene k novim tehnološkim rešitvam v pridobivanju in pre- delovanju zanj pomembnih živil. V vseh zgodovinskih obdobjih si je na najrazličnejše načine prizadeval za njihovo shranjevanje in skladiščenje, ker je bilo od tega odvisno njegovo preživetje. Še nedolgo tega so bili samooskrba, recikliranje in ponovna uporaba del vsakdana. Nove tehnologije pa so spremenile prehran- ske navade in omogočile drugačne načine preživetja. Napredek je s seboj prinesel tudi negativne plati, kot so npr. onesnaževanje z umetnimi gnojili, velike količi- ne odpadne embalaže, vprašanje komunalnih odplak in zavržena hrana.
Z razstavo želimo opozoriti na zgodovinski in tehno- loški razvoj, inovacije v pridelavi živil ter pripravi in uživanju hrane, vpliv prehranske verige na okolje in človekov odnos do hrane danes. Z opozarjanjem na pomen trajnostnega razvoja in krožnega gospodarstva se hkrati vračamo v preteklost in zremo v prihodnost.
Vsi skupaj in vsak od nas smo s svojimi dejanji in odločitvami dolžni prispevati k omejevanju negativnih vplivov na okolje.
At the temporary exhibition Man and food in a perpetual cycle, we spotlighted food – something so mundane but so necessary – that has always influenced every aspect of every Earthling ' s life. We looked into our collections and found a whole range of intriguing objects that have never been presented before regarding the use and development of technology in the food chain. The exhibition is also somewhat a tribute to the prestigious title Slovenia – European Region of Gastronomy 2021.
The primary need for food constantly drives people towards new technological solutions in producing and processing essential foodstuffs. Man has made various efforts to store and preserve food throughout history because their survival has depended on it. Not long ago, self-sufficiency, recycling, and reuse were part of everyday life. However, new technologies have changed food habits and enabled different ways of survival. Progress has also brought negative aspects, such as pollution from artificial fertilizers, large amounts of packaging waste, the issues of municipal sewage and food waste.
The exhibition aims to highlight historical and technological developments, innovations in food production, preparation and consumption, the impact of the food chain on the environment, and people ' s relation to food today. By pointing to the importance of sustainable development and the circular economy, reuse, and recycling, we are both going back in time and looking into the future.
We all have a responsibility to reduce the negative impact on the environment through our actions and choices.
