Electronic music is becoming more “mainstream” how
do you see this effecting the underground scene ? do
you feel a resurgence of more experimental music
being produced?
The only problem I have with our music becoming more
mainstream is the prices of parties, Djs and music going
up. In these tough times party people can not afford to go
out anymore. Admission prices are going up as are the
cost for these DJs. I think it is amazing that our music is
pumped to all types of people. It’s music and it should be spread all over the world. Thats our duty as
Djs, to spread the knowledge of all types of music.
Brooklyn has changed drastically over a short period of time, How has this affected the
subculture? Where do you see it moving?
Everything goes in cycle to me. One minute something is hot and the next its not. You just never know
what will happen next with the music scene in New York, thats what keeps it interesting. Did anyone
see Brooklyn becoming such a hot spot few years back? Don't think so. I know i didn’t, I do know
nothing last forever. Someone will start a new trend and Brooklyn would be something of the past.
Where would you say your dream Location/Venue is?
My dream venues are Robert Johnson, Womb , Panorama Bar and Rex club.
Who are some of your favourite producers?
Argy, S.A.M, Mike Dehnert, STL, ROD, Dj Qu, Fred P and Mr.G
Do you think Dj’s like Anthony Parasole and Dj Spider have brought New York Dj’s out of the
warehouses and into the international market?
Anthony is a very good friend of mine and i’d say his work has definitely brought more attention to New
York internationally.
Do you have any upcoming projects or productions that you are particularly excited
about?
Im currently working on an EP to hopefully be released later this year. I’m definitely excited for it because it'll be my first.
Would you say that nightlife in New York is still as secretive as it has been in the past?
I don't think so. Now that we have Facebook, Resident Advisor and all types of social media. Its easy
to find out where a party is happening.
What are your plans for the future?
Producing more music and hopefully playing all over the world.
What would you consider a revolutionary moment for the Techno scene in New
York?
I’d say when Output opened in Brooklyn 2 years ago. The night club has made a huge statement in the techno scene in New York. Bringing in talent that has never played here in the
states.
