Rana Plaza

Rana Plaza was a factory based in Bangladesh where thousands of young men and women would go to work to earn what they call a livinig, they are paid the worst living wage possible and are given unsightly hours to work. Not to mention the Health and safety issues working in the garment factory also had.

The Rana Plaza factory was an un safe working enviroment, no one should have been allowed in the building let alone the amount that worked there.

The factory workers were producing garments for popular high street brands that we all know and love, however, the brands claim to be completely unaware of the working conditions of this factory and claimed to do checks on all the factories they use to make sure they are up to standard.

Unfortunately on the 24th April 2013 the brands were about to find out how just in safe the factories really were for the workers.

On this day the building came crashing down killining 1134 people with it .

The factory had extra floors built on top of it that the foundation just wasn't made for let alone the 4 massive generators on top of the roof as well. Only a day before it collapsed were the workers evacuated due to cracks in the walls, however, although the boss new that it was unsafe he forced all the workers back in the next day telling them it was fine only hours later it collapsed.

Rana Plaza was the 2nd bigggest garment factory.
